I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- being a Phoenix newborn photographer is the best. There is nothing more wonderful than capturing a tiny newborn and his or her family. It is so special to me.

Today I’m excited to share some images I took of my friend Nicole’s family and newest addition. Baby Sadie was an absolute dream and it was so fun to capture her with her older sister too. I was able to book my favorite studio in downtown Salt Lake for our session, Wild Willow Studio. While I am based in Phoenix I do make frequent trips north to visit family.

The most important thing when planning a newborn session is to consider lighting. I cannot stress enough how plenty of natural light will truly add to your images! That is why I often suggest studios that can be rented for the hour for newborn sessions. Trust me, you’ll want all the natural light you can get for our session!

The other thing I stress to clients is to be careful with what colors you choose for your newborn session. I highly recommend wearing soft, neutral colors just as Nicole’s family did. This can really set the tone and mood of the photos. I just loved how the soft creams and whites came together in their photos with a touch of bronze.

I suggest bringing a few different outfits for baby, just in case! I love how Nicole brought baby Sadie in a night gown- these photograph so beautifully. You can check out some more like hers here!
