As an Arizona family photographer, one of my most favorite things is getting to meet and work with kids. Previous to starting my photography business I worked in a variety of settings with kids from babies all the way up through high school and loved it! Kids are honestly the best part of being a family photographer (and also the most tiring, hah!)
I was so excited when Miss A’s mom reached out to me to ask if I would take her 3rd birthday photos. I knew her mom (Nicole) would find the perfect dress and loved her vision. I almost fell over when I saw how cute Miss A was all dressed up in that perfectly pink, fluffy dress! Too cute!
Some Tips for Milestone Shoots from an Arizona Family Photographer
If you’re planning a milestone shoot for your child, then here are some tips for you. Milestone shoots usually happen around birthdays, baptisms, and other special family events.
- Make sure their shoes are comfortable! I have never seen a toddler or young child more upset than when they hate walking in a brand new pair of shoes they hate.
- Feed them before the shoot. A hangry child will make the shoot a little bit more difficult!
- Dress them once you’ve arrived at the location. No time for going back home to grab something else to wear! Make sure to wait to dress them until you’ve arrived!
- Decide on an incentive beforehand. I would suggest doing this with your child so they feel like it’s something they really want!
